Fifty bucks has been at Out of Africa for 10 yrs.  When he arrived he was just a few months but also very, very sick. A good vet, Fifty Bucks will to live, the care and love he received from Sandy were all factors on how he did make it. His previous owner sold him to Out of Africa saying that he was destined to be dead by the next morning. Quite the opposite because proof is showing you care and doing the opposite of not caring, and looking after him proved them wrong. Fifty bucks wanted to live and still does.

Dawn is a miniature mare, extremely fearfully from having lived and survived alone on 80 acres for a number of years. She has been at Out of Africa sanctuary for about 6 years. Even after much handling her survival instincts are still extremely dominant. Story we have heard was she had a foal with her whilst living alone but it was possibly killed.

We woke up one morning about 5 yrs ago and Houdini was with the big herd of 15 large horses. We have no idea who he belonged to, how he got in the herd and no one has ever looked for him. He just arrived, in short. His best friend is Hulk a large Percheron/Clyde cross.

Hulk has been at Out of Africa for 8 yrs. He did not make a team as he was the wrong color.  Out of Africa gave him a forever home saving him from worse demise. He is Houdini's friend

Nobby (left) and Ralph (Right) both miniature horses were surrendered by their owners due to changes in they personal lives. These people that end up moving away from their homes/acreages/farms give up their horses and other pets when they can no longer be accommodated or taken care of. Happens more than you would think. These 2 minis have been with us for about 8 yrs now.
